Cysts form when a hair follicle becomes blocked, leading to a firm swelling filled with keratin. They can range in size from a few millimetres to several centimetres and sometimes discharge a foul-smelling white substance. Sometimes they get infected, swell up, become red, sore and can discharge pus.
Dr Friedmann is a multi-award-winning consultant dermatologist with over 25 years of experience in dermatology. Having trained at leading London hospitals, he can treat all conditions that affect the skin, hair and nails. In addition, Dr Friedmann specialises in cyst removal.
What To Expect
Your consultant dermatologist will take a thorough medical history and examine your skin in order to confirm the diagnosis of cyst. The consultant will then discuss all treatment options available to you.
Once the diagnosis of your cyst has been made, a treatment plan can be formulated to remove it. This may comprise surgical punch-extrusion or for larger cysts, surgical scalpel removal and suturing.
Our surgical procedures are undertaken in a state of the art operating theatre. Minor procedures might be undertaken in our CQC-approved consulting rooms. Local anaesthetic is used making for painless procedures.
At Proderm UK, we do not believe in hidden charges so all post-operative care is included in the cost including wound checks, dressings, nursing and stitch removal.

Most procedures are entirely pain-free, using local anaesthesia which is delivered by injection with a very fine needle.
Surgery always leaves a scar, but by using advanced surgical techniques to minimise scarring any marks will continue to fade and improve over time.
Most people return to normal activities immediately or within a day or two. Strenuous sport and swimming activities need to be postponed for 7 days. Sometimes a small dressing is required to cover the wound for up to a week.
If removal is necessary for medical reasons (e.g. the lesion is painful, bleeding, catching on clothing etc.) then, your insurance provider is likely to cover the costs.
We offer the best-value consultant dermatologist fees in the UK. In addition to the consultation fee, surgical cyst removal starts from as little as £795 for punch-extrusions (suitable for cysts smaller than 8 mm). Scalpel excision of larger cysts range in cost from £995 - £1695 depending on size and location.
