Understanding Eczema

Eczema is a chronic skin condition that causes dry, itchy, and inflamed skin. Symptoms can range from mild irritation to severe flare-ups that disrupt daily life. Whilst common in children, eczema can affect individuals of all ages. It typically presents as redness, swelling, cracked skin, or inflamed patches that may weep or crust over.  It is usually extremely itchy.

What To Expect

Step 1: Consultation And Examination

Your consultant dermatologist will take a thorough medical history and examine your eczema. The types of eczema and treatment options will be discussed.

Step 2: Diagnosis And Treatment Plan

Once the diagnosis of your eczema has been made, the type of treatment that would be best for you is planned. This would be either topical solutions, ultraviolet phototherapy or advanced drug therapies.

Step 3: Tests

Often, eczema is related to allergy. We are able to undertake allergy blood testing or contact allergy 'patch testing' in clinic to try and establish a cause.

Step 4: Ongoing Care & Support.

At Proderm UK, we understand that treating eczema is a journey. Our consultants are available to support you remotely during your treatment after the consultation is finished, at no additional charge.
